Albury treasurer, and one of the tournament organisers, Helen Collins said on Sunday 28 competitors, from as far as Wollongong and Traralgon, were on the Border for the two-day event.
“We’ve got nothing but positive comments from everybody that’s here and a lot have said that if we had another one definitely count them in, they’ll be back,” she said.
Golf croquet is a quicker and simpler version of Association croquet.
At Albury, with just two courts, teams of two competed with two of the four primary coloured balls around a six-hoop course with the winning team being the first to complete seven hoops, or be leading after 60 minutes when the game is timed out.
The club, which affiliated with Croquet Victoria in 1938 and now has about 60 members, was originally established as a social outing for women while their husbands worked.
