After being managed by the Ovens and Murray for a number of years, AWJFL president Mark Sanson said the new partnership was 'the way of the future’ for the league.
“Whilst we have been pleased with the service provided the by the OMFNL, the proposal presented along with the capacity of AFL NEB to manage and consolidate with all levels of the game locally were key influences on our decision.”
North-East Border regional general manager John O'Donohue said the regional body was delighted to have the junior league on board.
“The AWJFL has been well served by the OMFNL, however there are greater outcomes to be achieved for clubs and the game under the RAC model which integrates league management, game development and umpiring,” he said.
