The new monthly market will be held on the first Sunday of the month, excluding January and the winter months, at the Wodonga Showgrounds from 8am to noon.
Co-ordinator Kathy Gilchrist said car boot sales were much more common in Queensland, where she grew up.
“Every weekend you could go out and find a car boot sale somewhere,” she said.
“Financially everyone is doing it tougher and if you can buy something second-hand why not?”
Sellers pay $15 to line up their cars from 7am, no bookings required.
Buyers pay $2 entry, drinks and sausage sizzle available.
