Gusts of up to 119km/h were recorded at Cape Naturaliste and more than 100 km/h at Busselton on Saturday, uprooting trees and taking down powerlines around Denmark and Walpole.
More than 3455 households were still without power on Sunday, mostly those along the South West coast and about 550 in Perth. Some took to social media to report hail in areas including Kwinana and Balcatta.
"There were still wind gusts of more than 90 km/h reported at Perth well into the evening," WeatherZone meteorologist Jacob Cronje said.
"The average wind speed was also incredibly strong – there were sustained winds of 80 km/h, especially between three and five pm, that were probably more damaging even than any of the gusts."
Emergency crews answered more than 20 calls for help, with damage reported in metropolitan areas including Bayswater and Kalamunda and regional towns such as Bridgetown and Albany.
Mr Cronje said the severe weather was now starting to be isolated to the southern coast and move towards the region just west of Albany.
"It then should be moving into South Australia, which has already been battered," he said.
Western Power has deployed extra restoration crews to repair and replace poles and powerlines, hoping to restore power to most of those affected by the end of the day.
Perth is forecast to have a cloudy but more settled Sunday, with a 30 per cent chance of a shower in the morning and early afternoon, and 25-35 km/h southwesterly winds predicted to lessen in strength in the evening.
"Apart from some showers and weak troughs brushing the South West, it looks like the next really strong system will only arrive on Wednesday, and Saturday will be stormy," Mr Cronje said.
"Definitely cancel that hike on Saturday."
