McVean joined the Albury-born driver for the Bathurst 1000 two weeks ago, and while the result wasn't what they'd hoped, Reynolds said the partnership had plenty of promise.
Before the Gold Coast 600, a race that has historically served Reynolds well, the Albury star is hopeful he’ll get the Erebus Motorsport car hooked up early in the weekend and then fine tune it into a good race car.
“We were quick at Townsville and there are some similarities, so hopefully we’ll have pace straight away,” Reynolds said.
“If I can qualify up the front I think we’re in for a good race.
“There is always carnage here, it’s crazy. That’s why I love it – it’s a fun race.
“You forget that the walls are concrete until you hit them.”
The round consists of two 102-lap races.
