You don’t turn pro without taking a few falls along the way.
But even by Lucas’ standards, 2016 has been a bruising year.
He’s had to battle his way back from a broken tailbone suffered early in the season, and despite a few ups and downs, is already preparing himself for whatever the 2017 season throws at him.
“It was a pretty rough season compared to the one before,” he said.
“But I’m finally getting fit and healthy.
“I’ve recently had surgery on my wrist and on my heel as well, hopefully in a few weeks I’ll be back on the bike and getting up some fitness.
“It’s pretty cool getting to do something you really love, I’ve been to so many places so young.
“I’m still trying to keep it as a passion rather than a job, this season has definitely been a bit of a learning curve.”
