Cox’s boat, Wild And Free, sizzled around the Lake Hume circuit, winning from Max Stevens’ The Other Madam.
It was one of two feature races at the Hume Boat Club’s event.
Shane Paynter won the club’s Cup race for a fourth successive year, with Workin On It.
“We were ecstatic with the numbers, it was a really good event,” race coordinator Joh Paynter said.
Around 40 boats contested the high-speed titles.
Boats in the feature events reached speeds of 176 kilometres per hour.
The meet also featured a drag boat demonstration.
Drag boasts can reach a top speed of 240 kilometres on the lake.
Joh Paynter was also happy that the event attracted a wide range of competitors.
It was also helped by the number of competitors fine-tuning ahead of another major meet.
