Reynolds was fast from the first practice session and qualified a season-best fifth for Saturday’s event.
The race was a short one for the No. 9 Penrite Commodore when it was hit from behind on lap two, sustaining race-ending damage.
Reynolds put that disappointment behind him by scorching around the circuit during qualifying for Sunday’s main event to start from third, behind the two Red Bull Racing cars of Jamie Whincup and Shane Van Gisbergen.
Co-driver Craig Baird was sitting third on lap 20 when he made contact with Arron Russell whilst trying to get past.
The altercation put Russell into the fence and Baird was slapped with a pit lane drive through penalty, dropping he and Reynolds to 21st.
Despite a great drive from Reynolds after taking the wheel on lap 58, he was only able to salvage a 20th place finish.
“I had a really good start to the day,” Reynolds said.
“We got to the Top Ten Shootout which was the first main objective.
“I was really stoked about that and then I put a pretty good lap together.
“It was really cool to see everyone in the pits so happy, it’s good to show we have speed, and if we can keep that up throughout the rest of the year I’ll be very happy.”
Brad Jones Racing’s Tim Slade came eighth on Sunday after 11th on Saturday.
The teams now head to New Zealand in a fortnight.
