The consensus among the year-12 group at Wodonga Catholic College was Wednesday’s English exam was not as tough as they were expecting.
Madie Davies used the full three hours and 15 minutes allocated to students, choosing to write her essays on the novels Burial Rites and Into the Wild.
Both were studied in the second half of the year and were fresh in her mind.
“I thought it was alright, I thought it was going to be way worse,” she said.
Miss Davies and friend Jaymee McKelvey had both expected the English exam to contain tough and tricky questions, designed to catch them out.
But they were happy it was more straightforward.
“I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I’d be,” Ms McKelvey said.
English was the first VCE exam to be held across Victoria and will be followed by other subjects throughout the next two weeks.
