The Dartmouth pub owner joins four sitting councillors for the next term.
And with a three-week-old baby, a pub and now councillor duties, he is not expecting to get much sleep for awhile.
“I always thought I would do OK as the only person from the Mitta Valley,” he said.
“But it looks like I picked up a few first preferences from other places as well.
“I think this will be a good thing for the whole valley.
“I really want to make it easier for people to invest in the shire — make planning permits a little easier to get and the whole building process a little smoother.”
David Wortmann topped the poll in the Towong election ahead of former mayors Mary Fraser and Peter Joyce .
Caretaker mayor Debi Gadd was the last person elected to the five-person council.
Phil Coysh was the only incumbent councillor not to be re-elected.
