Thurgoona Men’s Shed has been operating for four years and was established to provide men in the Border community a place to socialise and getting stuck into hands-on projects for local organisations in need.
The shed is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays from 8am but president Bruce Dyce said there was a possibility of opening an extra day shortly.
Volunteers focus on woodwork, metalwork and vegetable gardening
“There’s no set times when you have to go, it is pretty laissez-faire,” Mr Dyce said.
He said Saturday’s lunch, cooked in camp ovens was a hit.
“It was great, a great meal and everybody enjoyed themselves,” he said.
“The day went across well, it was mainly members’ families but there were a few others as well, it was a good day.”
Thurgoona Men’s Shed is at the corner of Corry’s Road and Elizabeth Mitchell Drive.
