The team of eight collected and decorated bras, added awareness messages about checking for lumps and then sold them for $5 each.
An effective sales pitch that includes wearing bras and bright pink clothing has seen these Bra Bandits achieve their target of raising $1000 for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre.
Bra Bandits organiser Jessica McDonald said she had rallied her friends to help and they thanked everyone who had supported them.
“People have donated $50,” she said. “Some of them have come up to us and said, ‘Have our loose change, we don’t want a bra, just go do what you need to do.
“It’s taken us a few months, but it’s been absolute fun.”
Accepting the donation, the cancer centre trust’s fundraising, marketing and events manager Jane Evans appreciated their efforts.
“People have come from all walks of life, all with the same passion and enthusiasm for our 100 per cent local cause,” she said.
