Offering a total award of $2000, applicants for the scholarship for their university studies must be attending the University of New England, Southern Cross University, Charles Sturt University, University of Wollongong or the University of Newcastle.
NSW Young Nationals chairwoman Jessica Price-Purnell said getting fair access to tertiary education for regional students was important, and also presented an opportunity to recognise the achievements of one of their own.
“The scholarship was named in honour of The Hon. Jenny Gardiner MLC, a life member of the Young Nationals and a fierce advocate for regional education,” she said.
“Applicants will need to submit up to 2,000 words on what living in regional Australia means to them and how they hope to contribute to regional communities in the future by December 23.”
