The workshops, to be conducted by Opera Scholars Australia, will help young singers from across the North East develop their skills as the organisation looks to involve youngsters in the fine arts.
The rehearsals will culminate in a performance to close the end of the first act of the January 17 main event.
Participating singers aged between eight and 15 years will receive music in advance and rehearse in Albury throughout the remainder of November and into December under the direction of Bohdan Nowicky.
They will also be mentored by two former locals, Ben Colley and Chloe Woods.
Mr Colley ventured to Perth to study creative arts, while Ms Woods is a young soprano from Beechworth who attended OSA's summer school last year.
Opera in the Alps director Graeme Wall said the workshops were an excellent opportunity for all young singers to further explore and develop their talents.
“We're really excited to be incorporating young people and our local community in these workshops,” he said.
“It's an incredible opportunity, they'll be working with some really high level level singers and mentors.
“They'll be closing the first act of the performance, a real high point of the show, backed by a 100-person choir, a full symphony orchestra and conductor Guy Noble.”
A crowd of around 4000 people is expected for Opera in the Alps, and Mr Wall is hoping getting young people involved with such a major event will continue to generate interest.
“We want to inspire kids in the North East to explore the world of singing,” he said.
“We've never had a choir performing at the show that is made up of kids this young.
“They'll be performing a piece of music that's been orchestrated specifically for them, and we're hoping they'll make a really striking entrance and deliver a memorable performance.
“In saying that, we're also trying to make the experience as accessible as possible by utilising people they know, and particularly by using young and up-and-coming talent as part of the workshops.”
There are still places available for the workshops, with rehearsals still being held on November 29, December 6 and 13 as well as a full-day workshop on January 17.
Applications to join the workshops and performance must be made to Mr Wall, who can be contacted on (03) 9819 7166.
Tickets are also available for the full Opera in the Alps performance, which starts at 8pm on January 21.
