Using any function of a mobile while behind the wheel – even if the phone is secured to a hands-free cradle – will see P-plate drivers face a fine or suspension.
New P-platers comprise 10 per cent of all NSW motorists but die at twice the rate. There were 193 drivers aged between 17 and 25 killed on NSW roads between 2011 and 2015.
