The project took out honours at an Urban Development Institute of Australia ceremony on Friday.
Mayor Anna Speedie said the acknowledgement was testament to the positive work that was happening in Wodonga's central business area.
“Our people told us they wanted a vibrant city heart and we are already seeing this precinct becoming an attraction with some great eating places becoming established,” she said.
