He’s been playing gigs somewhere around the country every week since he was 16 but never considered a “career” in music.
Together with his fellow musicians and mates in The Longreach Band, Phegan is a popular fixture on the Border and wider music scene.
Now, at 40 years young, Phegan decided it was now or never to tick off another item on his bucket list.
That’s why he’s “having a crack” at transforming the songs in his heart onto paper and out onto the airwaves.
He’s enjoyed the “arm of support” from some of the biggest names in Australia’s country music scene.
“It’s an itch I wanted to scratch,” Phegan said.
“It’s been a huge learning curve to write songs and a much bigger job than I first thought.”
Phegan finished recording the 14-track album last month including a video clip for the first single, I’d Be Over You, filmed at Daniel Moll’s family property at Gerogery.
