“It’s not rape unless you say no,” he told the girl, who had cheerfully greeted and chatted to Krause in her role as a sales assistant.
The girl was so upset that she reported Krause to her family, who called the store that in turn contacted police.
They went to Krause’s home in Kaitlers Road, where he told them of his interest in BDSM, which stands for bondage/dominance/submissions/sadomasochism.
He then showed police his specially designed bondage room, where police found Krause was illegally in possession of seven pairs of handcuffs and four pairs of leg cuffs.
They recovered child abuse images stored on several electronic devices that comprised about 1000 Japanese anime images, depicting children about 14 to 15 in rape and bondage scenarios.
The 56-year-old process worker pleaded guilty in Albury Local Court this week to a host of charges – one of stalking, one of possess child abuse material and several of possess or use a prohibited weapon without a permit.
Krause now has jail hanging over his head after magistrate Tony Murray imposed a 12-month jail term on the possess child abuse material charge.
He suspended the term for a year, releasing Krause on a good behaviour bond while also convicting and fining him $800.
The court was told that the victim was at work on December 20 last year when she was approached by Krause.
The girl politely spoke to him for about 20 minutes, during which he told her she looked to be about 21-years-old. She replied that she was aged 15.
Exactly one week later the girl was working in the same section of the business when she was targeted by Krause.
He told her he was there to buy “rails” then told her: “You are too young for me to tell you about it.”
Krause then told her he would “come back next week” so she could guess what he would do with his purchase, before he raised the topic of rape.
The distressed girl told her family about the conversation that night and they in turn contacted management.
The court heard the “rails” were to be used as part of Krause’s sadomasochism chamber.
Krause was also fined $800 and placed on a three-year bond on the stalking charge and another $300 on each of the prohibited weapon charges relating to the cuffs.
