The Golden Spurs Rodeo at Myrtleford heralds the start of the Christmas Run each year in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.
There are 208 nominations for Myrtleford, including more than 30 in each of the cowgirl events, barrel race and breakaway roping.
John P. Gill from The Rock is the rough-stock stock contractor.
In steer wrestling, current APRA champion Clay Bush from Yass will be the favourite along with last year’s winner Shane Kenny and Victorian star Lee Kimber.
Kenny, of Emerald, won three individual titles at the 2015 National Finals and the All Around Cowboy buckle but missed out on a title this year.
He leads APRA All Around standings.
Kimber won the final round of the steer wrestling at this year’s finals.
