Carmichael was one of six competitors in the Rising Star Challenge for the Junior Sedans category.
Bailey Perkins from Gippsland was his biggest rival during the day’s racing.
Carmichael won the first qualifying heat race, whilst Perkins took a win in the second.
A great stoush between Carmichael and Perkins entertained the race fans before front end damage to Perkins’ car put him out of the race.
Carmichael went on to win from Daniel Powell, Will Heiner, Ashleeh Bunt and Zac Twomey.
He will return to Wahgunyah in the Junior Sedans when the speedway hosts the Australian Production Sedan titles on January 27 and 28, with Sunday, January 29, an emergency day if the weather intervenes.
Practice for the event is on January 26.
