The first tournament of its kind to be held anywhere, the Albury-Wodonga Bhutanese cricket team’s Ram Khanal said the competition had been a huge success.
“We are very proud of the fact the Border was the first place to host the Bhutanese Big Bash,” he said.
“The support we have received from the community has been phenomenal.
“The enjoyment we saw in the face of every single participant has been amazing.”
Cairns toppled Adelaide in the grand final, as well as teams from Albury-Wodonga, Sydney and Tasmania on its way to the trophy.
“It’s really good for all of us to be together like this,” Mr Khanal said.
“It’s an opportunity to connect – to see that camaraderie between the players is very exciting.
“Australia is our home, Albury is our home, we want to be equally important contributors to the community.”
