Married mother-of-three Roberta Brown, 53, was hit by a truck while walking her dog on Ryley Street on Monday morning.

Friend of 20 years Marni Rees was one of the many people left shocked by her sudden death.

“She was full of life,” Ms Rees said.

“She was happy and had a beautiful presence about her.

“Her beauty both inside and out made her impossible not to love.”

Mrs Brown, known as “Bobbie” to friends, was married to Peter and grew up in Wangaratta.

She was a mother to three children, Roxanne, Michaela and James, and was passionate about animals, especially her pet dogs. 

The 53-year-old had worked as an interior decorator, stylist and florist.

Lachlan Gales said his sister was “fiercely generous” and was dedicated to her family, friends and the community.

“She was a vivacious, caring person with a wide circle of friends,” he said.

“She lived in the community her entire life.

“She was known for her happy manner and caring nature and had a large group of close friends that went back decades.”

Mrs Brown had worked at her parents’ nursery and florist when she was younger.  

She had been employed at Rees and Rees in Ovens Street for the past three-and-a-half years. 

Ms Rees said news of her death had been “devastating”. 

“We’ve lost an irreplaceable piece of our family at Rees and Rees, but most of all we have lost a beautiful friend,” she said. 

“Bobbie was an amazingly talented interior decorator, stylist and florist. 

“She was passionate, innovative and loved seeing people’s dreams come together.” 

Police from the Melbourne-based Major Collision Investigation Unit continue to investigate her death. 

A 26-year-old Wangaratta man had been arrested at the scene but was released on Monday afternoon without charge.
