Police were called after a silver Holden Astra sedan was seen driving erratically along Urana Road on Saturday.
A pursuit ensued before the vehicle was pulled over about 9pm.
The driver initially denied drinking but police soon noticed a strong smell of beer.
After an inspection of the vehicle officers found a half-consumed stubby of Carlton Dry in the centre console.
The man could not locate his licence despite it being visible to police and it had to be pointed out to him.
A breath test returned a reading of 0.153 – more than three times the legal limit.
The man was issued a field court attendance notice for high-range drink-driving and consuming alcohol while driving.
His licence was suspended and confiscated.
