Susan Osmotherly was recently named student of the year by the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation (ANMF) Victoria Branch.
The awards are held annually to celebrate and recognise the achievements of nursing students from TAFE, universities and other training providers across the state.
Wodonga TAFE nursing teacher Dianna Burr said Ms Osmotherly had consistently demonstrated attributes intrinsic to nursing practice.
“She is a quiet achiever with assured confidence, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills,” Ms Burr said.
“This includes an inherent understanding of the ethical and professional nursing values relevant to the role.
“She has an appreciation of excellence in nursing practice while demonstrating the importance of caring relationships.”
Murray Collis, a former recipient of the same award in 2014, was awarded the 2016 La Trobe University Wodonga campus student of the year.
Ms Burr said recognised the calibre of Wodonga TAFE graduates and the excellence of its training.
ANMF Victoria branch secretary Lisa Fitzpatrick said the the citations about the nominated students were quite inspirational.
“I believe that the future of our profession is in very good hands if these are anything to go by,” she said during the ceremony in Melbourne.
