But she hit that goal out of the park in just six months, prompting actor Samuel Johnson to push her one step further after helping her at a fundraising gig in Mt Hotham last year.
Mrs Yeates has upped her goal to $100,000, with the proceeds going to beyondblue and Johnson's Love Your Sister fund.
She has been travelling the country playing shows since December, and will be in Albury in February.
“I got to meet Sam at a gig in Hotham, and he said since you're so close why not go further?” she said.
“I've covered 14,000 kilometres so far, and I've got a long way to go.”
