The 12 and under boys beat Australia’s best in the Wagga event.
“It’s huge, for the Ovens and Murray, a country team, to beat all the metro teams, it’s a huge effort,” coach Shannon Gould said.
The O&M Cobras toppled Sydney’s Northern Beaches Blue 8-7 in the decider, scoring the match-winner in the final three seconds.
It’s only the second time an O&M side has won a national title, in any age group.

“The boys have been training together for a little while, so they were a young side two years ago when they first went to a Canberra tournament, but they’ve stuck together the whole time,” Gould said.
“They’re all little swimmers and they listen well.
“Defence was the key to their win, they pressed out and did everything the coach said.”
Meanwhile, the girls’ team also snared a bronze medal.
The Water Pixies fell 6-3 to Sydney outfit, Drummoyne Devils.
Players from the two teams ranged from eight to 12, so that should stand future teams in good stead.
