BYTE Sized Productions chairman Lachlan Murray said it was likely the biggest number yet for Border theatre.
“Talking with other theatre companies, it sounds like it’s the highest that any local theatre company has had for any show,” he said.
Among the contenders was Chiltern’s Caleb Bertram, 12, who if selected, will hit the stage for his first company production in June.
“I started in year 2; my first one was with school and it was called Dangerkids – I loved singing and acting from then,” he said.
“This is a change for me to get a bigger feel on things.”
For the first time BYTE Sized Productions is offering an alternative for those who missed out on a role in the production.
“We’re offering an extra skills-based program to try and help them so next time they’ll be more prepared,” Mr Murray said.
