It will see competitors of all ages and abilities vie for glory in swimming games at the Albury Swim Centre on Wednesday, March 1.
The games were founded in memory of Annette Baker’s daughter Mary, who tragically took her own life in 2011.
Mary had battled anorexia as a 12-year-old and suffered poor treatment in the hospital system.
She loved riding horses and writing poetry.
Money raised will go towards Albury-Wodonga’s Headspace to honour Mary’s short life.
Mrs Baker, who was a finalist for last year’s Australian Mental Health Prize, said the Border community’s love of the event kept it going.
Her husband Stuart echoed the sentiment.
“These events are imperative and the goodwill generated is refreshing, exhilarating and it gives good cause for optimism,” he said. “I hope mental illness becomes not such a stigmatised topic and it’s spoken about all the time and we accept it as being normal.”
