Her win in Tazawako, Japan, has her firmly ranked as the world’s best.
Cox has only missed the podium once this season.
With just one World Cup event remaining before the World Championships in Spain on March 8, she cannot lose the World Cup title and is also a realistic chance to take out the overall freestyle skiing World Cup.
Cox didn’t have it all her own way in Japan – qualifying second and finishing second in the first final to France’s Perrine Laffont.
However, by the medal round, Cox was back on top, scoring 78.57 to eclipse Laffont’s 78.36.
"Wow what a day and what a feeling to be on the top of the podium in Japan,” Cox said.
"I really wanted to pick up the intensity for the finals, so I was really happy when I took a good chunk off my time in the finals.”
