Miss Bennett, 37, who has multiple sclerosis, plans to donate her 30 centimetre ponytail to children’s charity Variety so it can be used in wigs for people who have lost their hair through illness.
Her mother Gail said her daughter liked this idea.
“It’s nice to pay it forward instead of the hair landing on the floor and sweeping it into the bucket,” Ms Bennett said.
The afternoon of music at Bright Brewery from 3pm will allow the family to thank everyone who donated money towards her trip to India for stem cell treatment.
Miss Bennett’s final medical test results were good and she will fly out of Melbourne early on March 7.
A pizza will be named for Miss Bennett at Sunday’s farewell, with proceeds to go towards her rehabilitation fund. A number of substantial donations, including one anonymous donor who contributed $17,000 in total, helped the Bennetts achieve their $45,000 goal.
