The section two men’s fixture between Wodonga Bushrangers and Forest Hill Wombats provided plenty for the highlights reel, with five sets going to tie breaks in Saturday’s pennant action at the Albury grass courts.

A dominant singles rubber from Bushrangers’ Mark Neil proved crucial to get his team over the line by two games.
Good support came from Sam Ebert, John McVean and Steve O’Connell, while Wombats’ Hayden McIntosh, Sebastian Blac, Alison Tinworth and Sean Pillay all contributed to a fine contest.
Also in section two, Albury came up trumps five sets to three over Forest Hill Blues.
Graeme Barnard was in good touch all day for the winners, with Tristan Cerveny the best for Blues.
Forest Hill Diggers had all the answers in the tight moments, including two tie breaks, recording a straightforward victory over SPD.
In the ladies, Sue Carlin was the standout in Glenly’s narrow victory against Wodonga Diamonds.
Uiver Park, with Juleen Cannon and Chris Denby unbeaten, accounted for Forest Hill, while Scots were big winners over SPD White.
With Graham Hawkins in outstanding form, Wodonga Bulldogs defeated Forest Hill Galahs four rubbers to two in section one men.
Travis Leenaerts and Lachlan Steain provided support, with Mal Lieschke a two-set winner for Galahs.
SPD claimed two tie break rubbers to set up a 5-1 triumph over Forest Hill Blues.
Trey Murphy, Adib Golshan and Issac Dallinger played well, with Marcus Busch snaring a singles win for Blues.
Near faultless tennis from Aaron Breust led Thurgoona Jets to a strong win over Forest Hill Eagles.
In the ladies, Thurgoona Slammers claimed a 4-2 victory over Thurgoona Jade.
Kara Curphey was a valuable inclusion, with Bunty Clark and Chelsea Hargraves also in good form, while Alison Barratt was solid for Jade.
A three-set haul from Chris Mollison set up Wodonga Tigers’ 4-2 salute over TAGS.
Solid efforts from Jim Cannon, John Cannon, Henry Parker and Dave Gilmore saw Glenly Maroon take the points over Wodonga Pirates in section three.
Alyce Gardiner was a three-set winner for Scots Silver in their 4-2 victory against SPD Pink.
Wodonga Aces started slowly before warming to the task, accounting for Scots Red 4-2.
In section four men, Thurgoona Bears started quickly and weren’t seriously threatened in their 5-1 triumph over Forest Hill Blues.
The next the North East Veteran’s tournament is at Nathalia on Sunday.
Cost is $25, which includes tennis, morning and afternoon teas and lunch, with play to commence at 10.30am.
