That’s what the locals are saying about new cafe The Fox & Brew, which is serving up fresh coffee and home-baked sweet treats alongside a delightfully cluttered collection of giftware.
Tess Callesen, 22, and her mum Virginia Scholz, of Walla, opened the doors of the cafe in October, 2016 and have been happily run off their feet since.
With shelves of quaint knick-knacks for sale, a small library and play area for children together with delectable refreshments, Ms Callesen said the aim was to offer customers something a little bit different in the town.
“There’s something for everyone here,” she said.
“Lots of Jindera locals say it feels like they are at Beechworth when they come in.
“It’s a place we hope people might want to go for a drive to visit – where you can have a coffee, browse the giftware or even enjoy an old-fashioned ice-cream in a cone.”
Ms Callesen said the cafe’s eclectic collection of antiques and gifts was the result of her mum’s avid interest in old wares.
Ms Scholz laughingly admits her family were the “traditional early pickers” and she would often spend school holidays digging up bottles at the back of Bourke with her dad.
With nine years in real estate, she has developed a particular interest in old estates and is always buying or salvaging “bits and pieces”.
“I have a shed full of old things and always said to my husband I would open a shop one day,” Ms Scholz said.
“I see beauty in old things and I love to re-purpose them.”
To that end, The Fox & Brew is now stocking an Australian-made range of chalk paints and Ms Scholz will run workshops on how to use them from March 22.
“The paints are fantastic because you don’t have to sand over anything; you can use them on any type of furniture,” she said.
For Ms Callesen, the cafe is an ideal platform from which to build business skills.
The pair has made a conscious choice to source products from the region including locally produced olive oil, West Walla Farm eggs and Mount Beauty coffee through to hand-knitted items from Jindera residents.
