The staple Myer lady and gentleman of the day and Myer millinery awards will be joined for the first time by a ‘mystery crowd prize’.
Fashions co-ordinator Sarah Crothers said the prize was trialled at another event and worked well.
“There’s always people who are dressed up beautifully, but might not be comfortable getting up on stage,” she said.
“While the competition is on, the judges will be perusing the crowd as well, and someone will get picked.”
There is $41,000 worth of prizes to be awarded in this year’s competition, including retail and accomodation vouchers.
The guest judges this year are Miss World Australia 2016 Madeline Cowe, Big Brother 2014 contestant Skye Wheatley and Myrtleford’s own Michael Finch, a popular beauty YouTuber.
Mrs Crothers said the popular trends this year included heavier fabrics, neutral tones, leather belts and elegant footwear.
“Lace is massive this year; we’re seeing that everywhere, and also embellished arms and bottoms of dresses,” she said.
“Things like 3D printing has totally blown millinery out of the water – some of the headwear being made has so many elements.”
Registrations for Fashions on the Field will be open from 10.30am until 1.20pm and the competition will commence at 1.30pm.
The Hot 100 will be running again this year out of The Border Mail tent, with $1200 in vouchers up for grabs for the crowd favourite.
