I’m unhappy to report there’s been a couple more instances of lowlife scumbags breaking into cars at boat ramps.
Best bet is for all of us to keep our eyes open, take photos of any car or person that looks a bit sus and make sure you take anything of value out of the car and cover anything else.
Easter is only a bit under three weeks away and shaping up beautifully!
This drop of rain we’ve been getting will certainly freshen things up a bit so I’m sure we can expect the fish to continue chewing away for quite a while to come!
You can’t be blamed for getting a little excited about this Easter, with fishing generally being the best it’s been for many years!
At A Glance
Khancoban Pondage has been a bit patchy over the past few months, which is normal for that time of year, with a few decent trout and quite a few small reddies.
There’s been the odd good reddie thrown in but generally most success on the trout has been in local streams and a couple of the higher dams such as Tooma, the two Tumuts and Geehi.
It’s such a beautiful area with so many options. It’s one spot certainly worth a visit.
Blowering has been great on the reddies even though they’re not the quality of the Blowering reddies of old.
I still haven’t spoken to anyone that hasn’t come back with a feed of late with the bulk of them being in the 24cm to 30cm bracket.
A few nice cod are being picked up on the troll and angling from the bank up there too but the best cod fishing is yet to come as the water cools down. That’s when those wake baits and surface lures will come into their own!
Murrumbidgee River is ticking along very nicely and would be another great Easter camping destination!
Trout, cod, yellas and Murray cod in particular are biting well on both bait and lures with surface lures again being popular.
It doesn’t seem to matter if you’re above Wagga or below Narrandera, the fishing’s still great.
Dartmouth is still going OK and as this weather cools should only get better.
Really small yabbies, mudeyes or scrubbies under a bubble are a really good alternative to trolling at the minute and if you drop them to the bottom you’ll give yourself a chance of nailing the odd Macka too!
Streams are great and again, that drop of rain won’t do them any harm at all.
The cod have been fantastic all season and while we’re on the subject, congratulations to a couple of locals, Team McGrath’s Rick Doyle and son Reuben on winning the Cod Nationals at Mulwala last weekend!
Great effort amongst some stiff competition!
