The Border side will take this weekend’s fixture against Werribee City to Savoy Park in Myrtleford and is in the best possible position to take away three points.
Marquee man Archie Thompson returns, American import Fernando Posada will play his first minutes in over a month, while striker Chad Bugeja is expected to start after coming off the bench last weekend.
Attacking midfiedler Zac Walker believes the club is certainly heading in a positive direction.
“To get a point against a top side (Dandenong Thunder) with A-League defenders and top strikers is a real positive and a real morale booster for us,” Walker said.
“We’ve got a full strength side for the first time in three years actually and there’s finally competition (for spots).
“We’re definitely going to be strong and competitive and we’ve got to fight for our spots, which is good.”
This weekend will be the first time Bugeja, Posada and Thompson have started together all season, which Walker is excited about.
“To have them on the park with their experience surrounded by the youth will be good for us,” he said.
“Seeing what he (Posada) brings to team is phenomenal with his strength and speed and touch.”
Walker still pinches himself that he gets to play alongside one of his childhood heroes in Thompson.
He added it would be good to play more games around the region to showcase Murray United to the fans that don’t always get to see them.
