But that’s bad news for the rest of the league.
Cross turned 34 on Thursday, but in his last two games in the league, he’s racked up 81 possessions.
The 249-game AFL star destroyed Wodonga Raiders with 45 and that followed his Did Simpson Medal-winning 36 in last year’s grand final win over Lavington.
“It will be about eight to 10 games, so similar to last year,” he said.
“It depends on when Melbourne plays, so I’ll obviously do the running on match days.”
The only speck of positivity for opponents trying to keep up with the workaholic midfielder is his growing commitments with the emerging AFL outfit.
“I’ve got more and more responsibilities and that’s starting to happen,” he said.
“I’d love to play forever… and I think my body would be able to hold up.”
