Ms McGowan was disappointed federal Transport Minister Darren Chester did not visit the region with a funding announcement on Monday.
But she has now turned her focus to the upcoming budgets where she wanted to see a joint announcement of funding.
“Part of the whole plan was getting Darren Chester here, then following that with Jacinta Allan,” she said.
“It’s great that’s he’s come and I’ll continue to pressure the Victorian government.
“They can’t continue to play the blame game, they have to work together.”
Mr Chester also met with Wangaratta, Wodonga, Benalla and Strathbogie council representatives to discuss the train issues and said he was willing to collaborate with the Victorian government.
“Having had the visit, having met with locals, heard their concerns, met with council, now it’s a question of how we see investments and improve the service for the future,” he said.
