The AG SCHOOLS program is designed specifically for students who are still studying at school, and allows students to undertake a Certificate II or Certificate III Agriculture qualification as a School-Based Trainee (SBAT). This program runs across three locations in Victoria; Wodonga, Benalla, and Elmore.

Students aged 15 and above enrol and attend their local campus one day every second week. They work in a place of employment one day every other week (during the school terms).
As we come to the close of Term One for school students across Victoria, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the Wodonga TAFE AG SCHOOLS program.
We can also look at what lies in store for the remainder of the year for those undertaking school-based training with Wodonga TAFE.
This year, the Wodonga TAFE campus hosts students from three local schools. The students have begun units relating to Work Health and Safety, Observe and Report on the Weather, Environmental Management, and Operate and Maintain Basic Machinery.
Later in the year, the SBAT students will study units such as Operate Tractors and Operate Quad Bikes in a highly-controlled training environment.
Other more traditional agriculture units relating to soils, plants, livestock and chemical safety will also be on the program.
The AG SCHOOLS program, although delivered as a Certificate II in Agriculture includes many units which are generic to horticulture.
For students who love the outdoors/animals/plants/farm work, this is an ideal beginning for teenagers who may be unsure of what they want to pursue as a career.
AG SCHOOLS provides young people with an opportunity to try out options and learn valuable life skills while still at school.
Undertaking the AG SCHOOLS program has many benefits, including face-to-face group training with other like-minded students, creating new friends and completing a nationally-recognised course.

Wodonga TAFE is holding a half-day course in basic propagation on Thursday April 27 designed to teach how to grow a wide range of plants using various techniques.
