Luke Bailey, 32, had been arrested on March 31 for allegedly threatening to burn down his family home in Wangaratta and causing more than $1000 in damage by destroying outdoor furniture and pouring cleaning liquid into the fish tank.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Williamson said Bailey had an intellectual disability and was arrested and taken to the police station because his parents feared he would carry out the threats.
“The accused has flown into a violent rage, damaging the interview discs and equipment,” she said.
Bailey also allegedly ripped a wooden cabinet from the police interview room wall, urinated on the floor and tried to kick the supervising sergeant in the stomach.
Magistrate Ian Watkins released him on bail with the condition he not go within 200 metres of his parents’ home.
