Thieves targeted Camp Street business The Finer Things in Life about 1am on Sunday.
A door was pried open as a tenant slept, with about 100 items stolen from the business.
Owner Elizabeth Mason said the stolen goods were distinctive and not readily available.
“I’m pretty depressed really, pretty disappointed,” she said.
“We present with such a nice range of products – our windows are our catch.
“Unfortunately it can also lure in the wrong people.”
The business sells hand-crafted items, most of which is vintage.
Ms Mason said the targeted items included sterling silver, gold layered products, bracelets, necklaces and chains.
“I haven’t checked the stock files, but there would be approximately 100 items targeted,” she said.
“They did a big scoop.
“There would be tens-of-thousands of dollars involved here.”
Police attended the business on Sunday morning.
Ms Mason, who is the Beechworth Chamber of Commerce president, said there weren’t any witnesses to the break-in, which occurred during a loud storm.
But she hopes someone will have information on those responsible.
“We definitely plan to upgrade security,” Ms Mason said.
“I’m going to make contact with some places they might attempt to sell to.”
The shop was targeted in a similar theft worth $30,000 in June 2011.
“We replaced the windows with laminated windows, secured locks and locked cabinets, unfortunately the deadlock and key lock were jemmied open” she said.
