Craig Farrar said it would be “pretty amazing” to host such a competition.
“If it was held from October to May, in that period, the grass courts should and would be used because that’s what our tennis centre is based on, 30 grass courts,” Mr Farrar said.
“Having said that we’ve got blue courts and we’ve got lighting on them and they’re the same courts they use at the Australian Open.”
The Wodonga Tennis Centre unsuccessfully bid for a Davis Cup tie in 2012 and about $1 million was spent to install plexicushion courts in 2014.
Mr Farrar said the grass courts would need to be laser levelled but it would not be difficult to configure a grass or hard courts to host Commonwealth Games matches.
“Let’s be open to everything (but) tennis why not?” Cr Speedie said.
“We’ve got a fantastic facility, but let’s be open to everything.”
Tennis is considered an optional event at Commonwealth Games.
It has been staged once before, with Australian Anastasia Rodionova winning the women’s singles and Indian Somdev Kishore Devvarman taking the men’s gold medal at the New Delhi Games of 2010.
Wodonga tennis player Chloe Ebert, 8, who began aged five, welcomed the prospect of her sport being played at her home courts as part of the 2030 Games.
“You would get to see all the great players,” she said.
