The offender tried to pass the note at a store in the Wodonga Plaza.
The incident occured about 2pm on March 22.
Security cameras captured a man wearing a white Echo T-shirt, grey shorts and a pair of skate shoes inside the business.
He has short dark hair.
Anyone with information should contact the Wodonga police station.
