Since being smashed by Osborne in round one, last year’s semi-finalists have hit back with solid showings against Murray Magpies and Brock-Burrum.
“We were a bit shell-shocked in the Osborne game but since then we have had been fairly competitive,” Stevenson said.
“We have just had a couple of lapses which ultimately cost us.
“I thought we played two good quarters against Magpies and probably three on the weekend so I’m pretty happy as we are improving each week.”
In a tough start to the season, CDHBU face another big assignment against Jindera on Saturday.
Rand-Walbundrie-Walla host Billabong Crows, Howlong will defeat Lockhart and Brock-Burrum will start favourites against Murray Magpies.
Rivals Culcairn and Henty meet at Culcairn.
