There is something of an ulterior motive when they do go through that door though – Willow, the school's educational assistance labrador, will always be there to greet them.
Since first meeting students last year as a nine-week-old puppy, Willow has fast become a friend to everyone, relieving principal Sharelle Baily said.
“I wanted to bring that care, respect and responsibility that comes with pet ownership back into school,” she said.
“Willow's got unconditional love – the kids know that, she’s just part of the family.
“I spoke to other schools that had dogs and looked at the benefits they bring.
“We have a number of students with special needs, and I wanted to give them something that would make them feel special.
“Giving them some Willow time, taking her for a walk, it re-directs them back into their learning.”
