I feel if this survey was done again it would be a vastly different result.

At the time the survey was initially done, very few people realised or believed that the alternative was to be a covered, heated swimming complex with two pools plus a water play area.

What councillor in his right mind would vote against such a great town and district asset if the decision is left till September.

On Laurie Lawrence’s visit to Corowa he not only stated that it would be a “no brainer” to go for an outdoor pool, he also stated that the American swim team were hard to beat because they train in a 25-metre pool and were extra good on the turns.

I also noticed in The Border Mail Yarrawonga is trying to raise funds for an indoor complex. A spokesperson said “they had an open mind about the future of the Yarrawonga outdoor pool as it was only open over summer months for limited hours. The schools have access but usage is limited”.

This is the same in Corowa – is this what Corowa really wants?  Maybe the negative people in Corowa should try speaking with Mike Eden. You will find him a very approachable man trying to do the best for the Federation Shire. I noticed very few people turned up to the advertised public meeting at the Golf Club last week to hear him discuss the proposed budget for the coming year.

It's such a praise for humanity to see a person like Andrew Forrest donate $400 million to charity organisations – mind you, he will most likely write it off in his tax return, if he does one?

Andrew Forrest has a net worth of $5.67 billlion. If someone makes money someone else must lose money. Does that make sense? So all the money that Mr Forrest has accrued over the years has been taken from someone else who bought his product. I am presuming that Mr Forrest has been paying his taxes like all other responsible billionaires in Australia.

Anyone who knows anything about mining and the pollutants that the enterprise produces that causes ill-health of the communities surrounding the mining site and elsewhere should be ecstatic.

The destruction of the land, the release of heavy metals into the ground water and air and all the ill-health that follows it is comforting that Mr Forrest has contributed a proportion of his handout toward cancer research.

Human senses are finite and we will never understand the complexity of this biosphere and just how it functions. Humans are hard-wired to respond quickly to sudden threats but not to a menace that moves itself known stealthy over an extended period of time.

Andrew Forrest’s donation of his loose change can not be neglected but in reality means nothing in the long run. Keep consuming and adding to his pocket and we will solve all our problems except of course for climate change and the gradual destruction of the environment that sustains all life.

The majority of humans have no knowledge of what is going on in the world around them. Even the scientists are basically stupefied and cannot agree on matters that are shaping our destiny. What's the weather going to be tomorrow – stick your head out the window and have a look. 

We picked the best weekend to travel 550 kilometres to visit our son and his partner. The cancer awareness game at Rutherglen was epic. Country people all came together for a great cause.and did #teamjacka proud. The Rutherglen football and netball club and supporters did an awesome job. They should all be so proud.
