Albury-born part-owner and manager Jodie Tiernan said the new venture was a career highlight.
Tiernan worked in hospitality in London for six years and the same in Sydney before returning to the Border in 2004.
“I grew up in Albury and I’ve always wanted to return here to run a pub of my own,” she said.
“When I worked in pubs in England I really fell in love with that tradition of a classic pub.
“It’s really about getting back to basics – no pokies, no gimmicks, just a welcoming atmosphere with exceptional service.”
Architects Burton and Carter and a team of Border tradesmen have added timbers and abundant greenery to the premises.
Head chef Ben Warren (formerly of Wardens, Beechworth and Watermarc, Wangaratta) will bring local flavours to Italian dishes and modern gastro-pub fare.
