Leslie kicked four goals and had 35 possessions in the club’s second win, 13.7 (85) to Wangaratta Rovers’ 10.16 (76).
“He’ll go down as the best North Albury player,” Gilson said.
“Obviously there’s Stan Sargeant, but he’s (Leslie) unbelievable.”
Sargeant is the league’s leading goalkicker with 1096 and is in both the O and M and Hoppers’ Hall of Fame.
Leslie is bearing down on Sargeant’s games record of 289 and will definitely join him in the Hall of Fames.
North has now moved a game clear of Rovers, with Corowa-Rutherglen still winless after seven rounds.
“The four-quarter effort was great, the last two games we’ve been really good for two-and-a-half, three quarters, but we spoke about playing well for four quarters and we did that,” Gilson said.
