The Albury restaurant icon pulled out all stops for a fitting farewell to the public in a seven-course dinner titled The Last Supper.
Cafe Victor owner Carlos Saliba said 48 diners enjoyed restaurant favourites and new flavours.
“It’s sad to finish but it’s a new beginning too,” he said.
“I’ve got nothing to regret and Victor’s name has been well-maintained over the years.”
Named after the original owner Vittorio Thomas, Cafe Victor was opened in a small shop on the corner of Dean and Elizabeth streets about 30 years ago.
Saliba’s uncle Tony Khoury bought the cafe during the 1990s before Saliba and his brother Alexy took it over in 2010.
Having sold the building to the Commercial Club before a 10-week renovation in 2013, Saliba said the family business had grown.
“I’m going to take a break and do some travel to Japan and Italy,” he said.
“But I can’t imagine myself not in hospitality.”
