The O and M ordered the probe after the umpires requested the league review the video of last Saturday’s game.
“It’s been launched as an investigation by the league,” O and M general manager Sean Barrett said.
“The investigation officer will determine if there’s a charge to be answered or not.”
The investigation officer has a 10-day period to conduct his inquiry.

“He can also apply for an additional 10-day extension and I believe he will do that,” Barrett said.
Given the investigation was launched on Tuesday, it means he has until June 19 to decide whether Hyde and-or the spectator will face a charge.
The spectator is Pat Sullivan, who plays for the Saints, but hasn’t played this year due to injury.
If so, the tribunal would then be held.
Hyde is eligible to continue playing in the meantime.
Albury president Stuart Hodgson said he couldn’t comment on the matter.
Barrett also wouldn’t speak on this case, but did say the league has a strong edict.
“Certainly with those things, we’re very conscious of any contact between spectators and players,” he said.
It was a fiery first half between the Tigers and Saints, with a number of skirmishes.
Hyde is one of the league’s best players and would be leading the Tigers’ best and fairest after a sensational opening seven rounds.
