His header revolutionised farming systems globally. In rural circles the establishment of the header, and its historic roots in Henty, are well known.
And now there is a plan to develop a “significant piece” of artwork in Mr Taylor’s honour. Headlie Taylor Museum manager Bruce Taylor said the aim was to recognise the invention of the headers in the region.
Philanthropic contributions mean that artwork could be to the value of $85,000.
The public artwork is being commissioned by the Greater Hume Shire Council, in partnership with the Headlie Taylor Header Museum and Murray Arts and the organisations are calling for expressions of interest before July 31.
The Headlie Taylor Header Museum secured funds from various sources to commemorate the engineer, and recognise his historical contribution to agriculture.
